“The summer school happened to be an eye opener. During the course of the EU-Africa connect summer school, I got to meet a whole lot of people and also learn so many things which includes; history of Europe, Basics of German and French, different European cultures, data analysis , policy presentation, Economic integration, public policy techniques amongst others but most importantly, I learnt about all the countries under the European Union and team work as I had to work together with other people in my committee and political group.”

“The three weeks was spent with such great minds. It was exciting, tasking and enlightening. Exciting as in, interacting with people from different disciplines and understanding how to work with different people. This program taught me team spirit. Tasking as in, I had to understand time management, assignments had to be completed, group work had to be done. Despite this, I always looked forward to what came next. “On getting my confirmation email, I was filled with tremendous excitement that I, Obed could actually be selected out of Hundreds of applicants for the summer school. I had no prior experience of whatsoever we were being taught but while going through the process of the training, I was being sharpened and polished to learn a lot of things I would not have been able to learn in the classroom. “Eu- Africa Connect Summer School was a big one for me, especially since i am from the sciences. It was really intellectually challenging. During the cause of 3 weeks, I have been able to gather much knowledge on matters relating to governance/government, Policy making and implementation, politics and politicking, importance of culture and its values, culture of different European nations including ours here in Nigeria, exposed to learning the basics of 3 different European languages, amongst others. Being a Nigerian, who can't even speak his language and was also never interested in Nigerian politics, but due to the knowledge gained during this period I am now interested in learning about my language and culture, get involved in knowing about local and international politics, policy making and implementation all for a better Nigeria. Also, with the knowledge and skills gotten from Data analytics, team work, leadership etc., I can be better in my field of studies and life in general.”

“The EU-AFRICA CONNECT is a programme for everyone from different disciplines. In this 3-week programme, we ha intense training in the European culture, languages, government and economy. We were trained in public speaking and data analysis too! I won't lie, my life has been changed by this experience. I got to work with our humble director, Prof. Olufemi Saibu and our friendly head facilitator, Dr. Oluseye Ajuwon, I also met new people and made new friends! Did I mention the fact that we were catered for three weeks?”

The program was remarkable, offering a wide range of skills such as public speaking, policy analysis, research, data analysis, and teamwork. The interactive teaching method used during the summer school was refreshing and different from the traditional university system. The facilitators ensured active participation and valued every participant's perspective. Professor Olufemi Saibu, the chief facilitator, actively engaged with us, teaching not only the course content but also important life skills. Overall, the program was a success, and it would be beneficial to have it repeated annually to enhance the lives of university students in various aspects.

“The program was a very insightful and eye opening one, our instructors appeared to be very knowledgeable in each aspect they taught, they also offered valuable information and tips on many areas of which was being taught. In this program, I learnt how to speak 2 European languages which was a very exciting experience for me, this program also contributed to my public speaking skills, I learnt several key pieces of information that will greatly improve my ability on policy writing, politics, economic integration and most importantly the EU strategy for Africa. One of the modules taught that caught my attention was the Data Analysis and Research writing modules. Every experience was a roller coster of knowledge and I'm very thankful for each. “The EU-AFRICA CONNECT programme is one exercise that I am really glad that I got to participate in. From the mode of teaching to the actual learning equipment and environment in general, it was one to behold. Taking it from the equipment, the use of smart technology and projection helped in making the assimilation of the modules easier as the instructors were able to give a thorough explanation where necessary since the slides have been made accessible and available. The contents of the modules were as well enlightening and the knowledge gained is definitely one necessary within and beyond my school environment. The knowledge of the European culture, the economy and a glance at the political structure has helped be quite knowledgeable in that field.
